UD Music: UD Music was founded in the early 2000s by a group of hip-hop artists and has over twenty years of experience in nurturing Black and culturally diverse artists. UD music functions as a bridge between young talent and the music industry and strives to provide the resources and space needed to explore their potential. Above all, they work for a world in which young people who love and create black music are recognised for their creativity and properly equipped to enter the music industry’s competitive environment.
The Talent House: UD Music x East London Dance: The Talent House brings UD Music and East London Dance together under one roof. This modern creative space is housed inside a Victorian Warehouse, which served as a printing press at Bow, where paper was extensively manufactured, for over 150 years. Glenny Crory, a journalist on the East London Observer, stated that the Edward Lloyd’s mill premises at Bow covered some ten acres, and we can assume, since it sits nearby the mills at Bow, that the Talent House building may have served his enterprise. With the explosion in the production of popular newspapers in the late-1800s, Lloyd’s innovative methods met the challenge of a city-wide paper shortage. Crory was given a tour of his factories and reported that two hundred hands were employed, alongside a detailed description of the production process of paper which celebrated Lloyd’s innovative factory techniques.
